This morning there was a chill in the air. I could feel it coming off the water here in Victoria’s inner harbour. It feels like an invitation. The letting go of the past years embrace and opening the door to the year to come. I invite it in and embrace the idea that change is coming, change is here.
When we come to our Yoga mats, we are also opening the door to change, transformation and grounding. We give ourselves time to feel how our experiences in the world have settled into our bodies and been imprinted within us, like the lingering stain of leaves on wet pavement.
As we take time to breathe slowly in and out, we are giving ourselves space and time to start to process those experiences, and help to move them through us. As we move our bodies, we are warming up, cultivating strength and an element of challenge. We adjust our breath as we move, and eventually we discover that which challenges us, can bring so much joy and make us stronger. We find acceptance with what is.
As we move into another year, the winds of change blow in. They whisp on the surface of the water, as if dancing to a distant drum, a heartbeat. Life around us changes, and we adjust, one breath, and one movement at a time. Roll out your mat, step to the top of it, raise your arms and take a breath to find expansion and evolution.
I invite you to feel something deeper and I look forward to hearing from you, or seeing you in class soon.
